   Hi Hallie! Great pitch. It was definitely very informative and gave me a good idea of what you will include in your Visual Essay. However, I have a few suggestions that could have helped you improve.

   Firstly, the font you used on the slides regarding your academic sources was a little hard to read. If you include any text on your video portion of the visual essay, I suggest using a font that is easier to read.

   Further regarding your academic sources, I would’ve liked to have heard HOW you will use them in your visual essay. You gave an excellent overview of both of the sources, discussing the relevant information, but also including why each source will be useful to your essay would have demonstrated that you have a plan for the structure of your essay.

   Additionally, I included in my pitch three subtopics that I will explore within my overarching topic to demonstrate how I will provide an in-depth exploration into the topic. This would have been beneficial for you to do, as it would also help show that you have already begun planning your essay.

   To add to this point, I think it would have been useful to include as one of your subtopics the effects of orientalism and why it is important. Why is orientalism within the movie industry an important topic to discuss? I found this source written by an Arab man discussing orientalism which could be useful to you, although it does not specifically discuss orientalism in Hollywood https://insidearabia.com/on-orientalism-and-the-dehumanization-of-the-other/. This article provides a perspective from the orient and discusses how orientalist dehumanises the ‘other’, contributing to a lack of empathy from the West to the orient. You could also possibly link this to the current lack of Western empathy and news coverage for the Israeli killings of Palestinians if you wanted to give a very current global example of this.

   You included heaps of example images in your pitch which is great and shows you are thinking about what images to use in your visual essay. It may have been beneficial for you to discuss one or two of them and the relevance to your visual essay. Such as describing how one of the movie screenshots depicts orientalism. This would have acted as a good justifier for the images chosen and would have demonstrated critical thinking about your images.

   Overall, this is a great pitch, and I am looking forward to reading your visual essay as this seems like a very interesting topic. Great work!
